  • Centering Prayer

Centering prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to experience God’s presence within us, deepening our relationship with the living Christ. In the 1970s, Trappist monk Father Thomas Keating realized that young people were leaving their own traditions and adopting Eastern meditative practices. He found they wanted a path – a meditation-based practice that changed the way a person viewed reality and lived their life. Father Keating and other monks started teaching a method which has come to be called centering prayer. Our time together on Sunday and Tuesday mornings will include a brief introduction to Centering Prayer if needed followed by a 20 minute Centering Prayer session and a closing prayer. Quiet sharing may take place following the Centering Prayer session and the co-leaders will be available for questions. A resource list will be available.
